Will my skin peel a lot afterward?



You may experience mild flaking or dryness for a couple of days, but nothing major. This is the skin’s natural way of revealing a brighter complexion!

Is it painful?



Most people feel a slight tingling or warmth—nothing to worry about. Any discomfort usually subsides quickly.

Who is this treatment for?



The Express Chemical Peel is ideal if you’re short on time but still want a serious skin boost. It’s great for all skin types looking to reduce dullness and uneven texture.

Do I need to avoid the sun afterward?



It’s best to limit direct sun exposure for a few days after a peel. Always apply SPF—especially when your skin is freshly exfoliated.

We can’t wait for you to visit North Medical Spa! In order to make sure you are fully prepared for your treatment please take a moment to review this “need to know info” below. We want to ensure that you are fully prepared for your treatment and that you receive the very best results.

BEFORE YOUR CHEMICAL PEEL:

Avoid sun exposure before treatment. We can not safely treat Sunburned or tanned skin.
If you have a history of perioral herpes, please let us know. You may wish to begin prophylactic antiviral therapy the day before treatment.
This is a treatment that typically has no social downtime but as a precaution, we recommend scheduling this treatment at a time when minor swelling or peeling will not disrupt your social obligations.

3 DAYS BEFORE TREATMENT:

Do not bleach, wax, tweeze, or use depilatory creams in the treatment area.
Discontinue the use of retinoids (Retin A, Tazorac, Differin, etc.) and Hydroquinone products.
Discontinue the use of 10% or higher Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Glycolic Acids, and exfoliants.

DAY OF THE TREATMENT:

Do not apply lotions, creams, makeup, or deodorant in the area to be treated.
Arrive with clean washed skin.
Let your medical aesthetician know of any changes in your medical history and of all medications you are taking.

Post Care



AFTER YOUR CHEMICAL PEEL:

Redness might be present (and last up to several hours) after the peel.
Swelling might occur after treatment for 3-5 days.
Some may experience light peeling 3-5 days after the peel. Do not pick or scratch treated skin but instead keep moisturized.
Avoid strenuous exercise or sweating for 24 hours.
Treat skin gently by washing with a gentle cleanser, cool water, using hands only and pat dry no earlier than.

4 HOURS AFTER TREATMENT:

May use a cool compress after 4 hours if needed.

Avoid sun exposure and use a minimum of SPF 30 daily and every 2 hours if outdoors.
