Dermal Fillers add volume to the skin, smooth lines and plump areas that have lost shape or definition. Made from an injectable gel composed of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), dermal fillers deliver nutrients to help our skin retain softness, moisture and repair damage.

What to Expect with Dermal Fillers

Once we’ve completed the complimentary skin analysis, you will meet with one of our Medical Practitioners to discuss your desired results, review your medical history and answer any questions before the treatment begins.

The Medical Practitioner will examine your facial structure to determine where to administer the fillers. Small amounts of filler will then be injected into the areas where you have lost volume and desire more definition.

Treatment Options

Your Dermal Fillers treatment will vary in cost depending on several factors that are unique to your facial structure. We encourage everyone to come in for a complimentary consultation, during which we will go over all the details of this treatment including cost and what to expect.

Your Questions
Answered:

Do Dermal FIllers Hurt?

Dermal Fillers contain a pain-reducing local anesthetic to help manage any discomfort, ensuring the process is as painless as possible. Your Medical Practitioner will also apply a topical numbing cream to mitigate further discomfort.

How long is the treatment?

The injection part itself is approximately 30 minutes, though we allow for a 1 hour booking time for new guests to ensure you are comfortable and thoroughly informed during your treatment.

Is there any downtime after Dermal Fillers?

Downtime is typically minimal with Dermal Fillers and most people can return to work or normal activities right away. Some swelling, tenderness and/or bruising is normal with injectables and typically only lasts a couple of days.

When will I see the results?

Typically, you will see results immediately. Optimal results present approximately two weeks after treatment once swelling subsides and the product settles. Depending on the area being treated, Dermal Fillers can last between 6-24 months.

Client Testimonial

“Definitely the most thoughtful experience. I had some dermal fillers and Botox. The treatment was painless and I was back in my office within an hour. One week later and my results are better than I ever expected”.

Pre & Post Care

Pre Care

DERMAL FILLERS

We can’t wait for you to visit North Medical Spa! In order to make sure you are fully prepared for your treatment please take a moment to review this “need to know info” below. We want to ensure that you are fully prepared for your treatment and that you receive the very best results.

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

Inform your provider if you have a history of Perioral Herpes to receive advice on antiviral therapy before treatment.

Avoid dental work (including standard teeth cleaning) at least two weeks before treatment and one month following treatment. Avoid oral surgery at least four weeks before treatment and one month following treatment as there is an increased risk of infection.

7 DAYS BEFORE TREATMENT:

To prevent bruising: Avoid blood thinning over-the-counter medications such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, and Aleve. Also avoid herbal supplements, such as Garlic, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, St. John’s Wort, and Omega-3 capsules. Please note: If you have a cardiovascular history, please check with your doctor before stopping the use of Aspirin.

3 DAYS BEFORE TREATMENT:

Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinol, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, or any “anti-aging” products. Also avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal cream on the area to be treated.

Do not drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours before (or after) your treatment to avoid extra bruising.

Do not use Dermal Fillers if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are allergic to any of its ingredients, or suffer from any neurological disorders. Please inform your provider if you have any questions about this before the treatment.

DAY OF TREATMENT:

We will be removing all makeup from your face.

To maximize your comfort during the procedure, a topical anesthetic may be applied. In some cases, a local numbing medication will be injected into or around the area(s) to be treated.

You may experience a mild amount of tenderness or a stinging sensation following injection.

To ensure a smooth and even correction, your provider may massage the area(s) treated, which may cause a temporary, minimal amount of redness to your skin.

Post Care

IMMEDIATELY AFTER TREATMENT:

Redness and swelling are normal. Bruising may also be visible. You may experience some tenderness at the treatment site(s) that can last for a few hours or a few days.

Depending upon the area(s) treated and product(s) used, you may feel “firmness” in the treated area(s) for 1 to 2 weeks after treatment. Over time, the area(s) will soften and “settle.”

POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

Apply an ice or cold gel pack to the area(s) treated (avoiding pressure) as this helps reduce swelling and the potential for bruising.

Once you have adequately cooled/iced the area(s) as instructed and any pinpoint bleeding from the injection site(s) has subsided, you may begin wearing makeup.

Avoid placing excessive pressure on the treated area(s) for the first few hours and up to 2 to 3 days; when cleansing your face or applying makeup, be very gentle.

Avoid exercise or strenuous activities for the remainder of the treatment day; you may resume other normal activities/routines immediately.

You may take Acetaminophen/Tylenol if you experience any mild tenderness or discomfort.

Avoid extended UV exposure until any redness/swelling has subsided. Be sure to apply an SPF 30 or higher sunscreen.

Wait for a minimum of four weeks (or as directed by your provider) before receiving any skincare or laser treatments.

Any bruising will fade in 5 to 14 days.

We highly recommend that you return two weeks after your visit for a follow-up appointment.

We are here for you! If you have any questions or concerns following your treatment, please let us know.
