Laser Hair Removal is the most effective method of hair removal, and at North we’re pleased to offer treatments using the Candela GentleMax Pro, rated #1 in client satisfaction and comfort.
The Candela GentleMax Pro provides virtually painless hair removal and is suitable for patients with many different pigments of skin and hair type (including darker skin tones, which previous machines weren’t able to treat due to the potential to develop post-laser pigmentation changes).
A consultation is required for us to be able to assess your skin and determine the best skin rejuvenation treatment to develop a unique plan just for you. During your initial consultation, we will listen to your hair removal goals to determine the best fit for your hair reduction needs.
After the skin is cleansed and eye protection is applied, a small hand-piece will be used to deliver each laser light pulse. Candela GentleMax Pro emits a pulse of cooling spray in the treatment area to protect it against burning and to increase comfort. A pulse of laser light will then be emitted in order to target hair follicles and stimulate skin cell renewal. A tolerable stinging sensation is normal as the therapeutic heat is being absorbed by the skin tissue.
The treatment can take 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the existing skin condition, treated area, and desired cosmetic goals.
The laser light targets only hair that is actively growing - because of the way hair grows in stages, multiple treatments are necessary to treat all the hair as it grows. The number of Laser Hair Removal treatments varies per patient (and depends on the area that is being treated, the thickness and color of the hair, and the patient’s skin tone) and we suggest 4-6 sessions for desired results. Each treatment should be 4-6 weeks apart.
The treatment is safe and effective for all skin types. The Candela GentleMax Pro’s patented Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) technology allows it to deliver consistent bursts of protective cryogen (a substance that produces very low temperature) while preventing thermal damage in the treatment area. In addition, its Air Cooling Compatible (ACC) technology improves patient comfort by directing cold air into the area.
After a Candela GentleMax Pro treatment, you can resume normal activities, but sunscreen must be worn on any treated areas whenever exposed to the sun. Limiting sun exposure to treated areas by covering them with clothing or staying indoors is best. You may also be advised to use a formulated skincare product after the procedure.
