What is Keloid Scar Injection?

For a keloid scar injection treatment, there is no particular test for a keloid scar. We diagnose from the clinical story (a slow-growing overgrowth of a scar, usually in a dark-skinned person) with the scar growing beyond the location of the original skin damage. One of the most common methods is injecting steroids and local anesthetic into the keloid scar itself.

What is the Treatment Like?

The injection is done with a tiny needle directly into the scar in different areas.

Does it Hurt?

There is a minor discomfort in the area.

When Will I See Results?

The results will start to work immediately. The steroids and anesthetic can help to stop the proliferation of the skin cells in the keloid scar (what are called fibroblasts). The treatment continues to work over time.  Approximately one injection is given a month, for 4-6 months.

When Can I Return to Work/ Regular Activities?

Is it Safe?

Our highly trained medical professionals assess the scar before injecting to ensure you are a good candidate. Should you be a candidate and the scar is a keloid scar, the procedure is safe.
