What are Dermal Fillers?
As we continue to age, our skin loses collagen which keeps our faces looking full and firm. The Dermal fillers are made from an injectable gel made from Hyaluronic Acid (HA). This occurs naturally in our skin and the HA delivers nutrients which helps our skin retain softness, moisture, and repairs damage.
Dermal fillers work by adding volume to the skin, smoothing lines and plumping areas that have lost shape or definition.
What is the Procedure Like?
Once you’ve had our complimentary skin analysis and have decided on dermal fillers, you will meet with the Medical Practitioner to discuss the treatment. During this time, we will talk about your desired results, review your medical history and you will also have the chance to ask any questions before the treatment begins.
The Doctor or Nurse Practitioner will examine your facial structure to determine where to administer the fillers. This is a non-surgical treatment. Small amounts of filler will be injected into the areas where you have lost volume and want more definition. Usually, the treatment takes around 30 – 45 minutes to complete.
Do Dermal Fillers Hurt?
The Dermal fillers contain a pain-reducing local anesthetic to help manage any discomfort, ensuring the process is as painless as possible. You may also talk to your Medical practitioner about applying a topical numbing cream if you are concerned about further discomfort.
When Will I See Results?
Usually, you will see results immediately. If there is any swelling, it should go down in a couple of days, and you will be able to see the full results.
Depending on the area being treated, dermal fillers can last between 6-18 months.
When Can I Return to Work/ Normal Activities?
Right away! Downtime is minimal. Most people can return to work or normal activities right away. If you experience any swelling, tenderness or bruising, it typically only lasts a couple of days.
Are Dermal Fillers Safe?
Our highly trained Medical Practitioners will be able to see whether dermal fillers are right for you. To ensure your safety, it’s important to share your current state of health. It is also vital to share any changes to your health and any medications you may be taking with your North Medical Practitioner at every appointment.
